Effect on ovarian weight of female albino rat with histological changes after prolonged ovulation induction

Background: Infertility is becoming global health issue, which affects multiple aspects of human life in both genders . Medical induction ovulation with clomiphene citrate has been first line treatment infertility since 1962 Discrepancy rate and pregnancy along complication most the infertile patients raises question for alternative Increased risk (OHSS) ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome associated prolonged induction. Letrozole was found to be an effective ovulogen. Aim: To study effects on weight female albino rat histological changes after letrozole Method: An experimental conducted at animal house PGMI 84 Wistar rats having between 150-250gm.The carried out approved by Ethical Committee Postgraduate Institute, Lahore. Eighty four were equally divided into three groups (one control group A two B & C). Normal saline given orally , letrozole(Femara) dose 5mg/kg 100ug/kg C respectively Major further subdivided subgroups according duration (1-4 estrous cycle ). Ovaries removed dissection calculated. Ovarian sections made stained Haematoxylin Eosin, histology ovaries. Results: Experimental showed statistically significant difference ovary among 1-4 cycles but insignificant observed group. This that drugs have enhanced folliculogenesis as increase due gonadotropic activity features even 4 cycle.
